Introducing, Right in the Middle

I have never written before but have recently felt compelled to.  I classify myself as politically conservative but am having a hard time identifying with the proverbial right.  I am going to begin exploring why our nation seems to be split into two such distinct political/ideological camps, why each is so angry and hostile towards the other, if this condition is unique today or has existed at other times in our nation’s history, if it poses a threat to our future and if so what can be done about it.  I am not seeking to push my views on anyone else but am curious to discover if writing about this helps me learn as I seek answers to my own questions and attempt to verbalize the answers I come up with.
