You can probably tell that I am slow to teach myself to blog and keep myself accountable to writing. In order to facility the process I grabbed the WordPress app and I am using it now while I sit through my youngest son’s lacrosse practice. On that subject, I don’t love watching youth practice, I much prefer seeing the result on game day. There is such a temptation to jump in and assist the coach and repeat his message to my child. Thinking my son missed it or needs me to repeat it for him to hear it. Or I get the sense that the coach doesn’t care enough to follow through and make sure my child can execute the drill or skill in question. I have to instead believe that my son is getting the attention he needs, is given a fair number of chances to succeed and celebrate, and fail and learn from his mistakes. All while having a good enough time to enjoy it and motivate himself to stay engaged, practice at home, and hopefully make new friends, deepen existing relationships, and develop life skills along the way. Taking the time to write this makes think I have set my expectations unrealistically high even when I ignore the nuance and keep my thoughts to myself.
